El Mobile World Congress is the framework chosen to present the results of pilot of idCAT Mobile Connect In which, over the last six months, the town councils of Manlleu, Castellar del Vallès and Esparreguera have participated. These three have become the first public administrations in Europe to use, in a real environment, the Mobile Connect solution.
THEidCAT Mobile Connect is the service aimed at the citizens that combines theIDCAT, the public identification service of Catalonia, and the MobileConnect, the authentication mechanism being promoted by telecommunications operators worldwide. Mobile Connect is easier and more secure than current mechanisms for authenticating users and passwords or based on sending codes via SMS.
It has an innovative operation, through an APP that is automatically installed on the SIM card of the mobile phone when the citizen is registered at the service, without requiring any action on his part, and which manages the authentication process. securely and encrypted. With this system, the citizen can authenticate to the administration with a single click, from anywhere, at any time.
One of the great advantages of this system is that it allows internet management for both public and private services and it is expected that this will increase the number of procedures for citizens with the public administration.
This initiative is promoted by the Open Administration of Catalonia (AOC), the Government of Catalonia, the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation, GSMA, and the telecommunications operators Vodafone, Telefónica and Orange.
